In mainstream media, we're shown a stereotypical version of a person who has a problem with alcohol.

They're usually an older person, who's either drinking a straight spirit out of a paper bag or someone who is having vodka with their breakfast.

You don't have to be like this stereotypical image to change your relationship with alcohol.

Please also remember that there are LOADS of reasons why people don't drink... from religious reasons to health reasons and everything in between.

Every sober journey is valid.

When I speak to people who are exploring their rel

When I speak to people who are exploring their relationship with alcohol, one of the biggest things they tell me is that they're worried about telling people close to them.

They're worried their loved ones won't take them seriously or will be mean to them, take it personally, will laugh at them or call them boring.

Now, I'm not here to tell you these reactions won't happen. But from my experience, these reactions are temporary. When I took the time to explain to people that alcohol had become an issue in my life, they listened and supported me. Years down the line, some have even had sober/sober curious experiences themselves.

It's hard talking about this stuff. But it gets easier. You've got this.
